KSS Awarded Multiple AIA Honors
KSS and our design partners were honored by the AIA Philadelphia, AIA New Jersey, and AIA New York chapters this awards season for our innovative projects—University of Pennsylvania’s Amy Gutmann Hall, Penn Engineering’s Data Science and AI Building, Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University, and Civic Builder’s Comp Sci High.
Penn Engineering's Amy Gutmann Hall
Located at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, Amy Gutmann Hall, Penn Engineering’s Data Science and AI Building, earned AIA Philadelphia’s Merit Award/Sustainability, AIA New Jersey’s BUILT Open Honor Award, and AIA New York’s Honor Award in Architecture.
The project is a state-of-the-art facility designed to advance interdisciplinary collaboration in data science, artificial intelligence, and computing. The building serves as a physical and intellectual hub for Penn’s data-driven innovation, featuring active learning spaces, research labs, and flexible collaboration zones that foster connectivity between disciplines. The design reflects Penn Engineering’s mission to address global challenges through data-informed discovery, creating a transparent, light-filled environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and community.
Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University
Recognized with the Honor Award/Sustainability by AIA Philadelphia and the BUILT Sustainability Merit Award from AIA New Jersey, Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University embraces our commitment to education, sustainability, and stewardship of the natural world. Built around a 66-million-year-old fossil quarry, the facility connects visitors to Earth’s deep past while inspiring future generations to care for its future. Designed for net-zero energy and carbon operations, the museum integrates immersive exhibits, interactive classrooms, and research facilities with panoramic views of the active fossil excavation site. The design prioritizes environmental responsibility, accessibility, and engagement, bringing together science, community, and storytelling in one dynamic space.
Comp Sci High, an innovative charter school in the South Bronx
Awarded the BUILT Open Merit Award by AIA New Jersey, Comp Sci High in the South Bronx seeks to provide its students with learning opportunities they otherwise might not have access to. Combining the fundamental components of a typical charter school with a career-oriented curriculum, the school connects students to a rich network of nearby resources while reinforcing its presence as a civic and cultural hub for the community.
AIA Design awards recognize excellence in architecture, interior design, and urban planning and honor projects that demonstrate innovative design, sustainability, and have a positive impact on the environment. KSS is proud to have been involved in these projects. Congratulations to the entire team!
