the opportunity

After the completion of a 225,000-square-foot headquarters on the Burlington Stores corporate campus, it became clear the company would quickly outgrow the new space and require more accommodations to the expanding employee base and executive team. Responding to the thriving company’s continuing needs, KSS renovated the office space that once served as the previous headquarters and built a connector to the new headquarters, crafting a collaborative, integrated campus that offers ample stylistic variation and wellness strategies.

Our Approach

With improved daylighting and specially designed finishes, the renovated offices offer a sophisticated atmosphere with classic touches. The materials and spatial organization in the renovated office space are distinct from those in the new headquarters, acting as a complement and offering a different work environment. Providing breaks from the lengthy corridors connecting opposite ends of the extensive floor-plate, KSS introduced ‘moments,’ informal stopping places for employees to meet and interact.

With ample space for Burlington’s legal, financial, retail design, and facilities and construction departments, the renovated space is a gateway to corporate campus, signaling that at Burlington Stores, tradition and innovation are both welcome, valued, and celebrated.
