Warby Parker is a brand-conscious company with a distinct market edge and a social impact mission—a powerhouse in the startup world. In establishing their first production lab in the United States, Warby Parker looked to KSS Architects to design a manufacturing facility for a growing, modern, high-tech company dedicated to sustainable growth.
Our Approach
Working with Warby Parker from the beginning of the design process, KSS participated in site selection alongside Warby’s algorithm-based business strategy. Together, the team decided to site the lab in Sloatsburg, a twentieth-century industrial city with twenty-first-century promise.
To design a process-oriented facility, KSS diagrammed the production process, working with Warby Parker to delineate manufacturing and craft scalable production lines deftly arranging the lab’s function in concert with its form. The production lab is a clean, modern statement of Warby’s unique brand weaving together open sightlines, branding, and the power of human capital in an activated lab core. This production lab sets the standard for eyeglass production facilities across the globe, bringing to life the innovation, transformation, and complexity that make modern businesses into vibrant expressions of the entrepreneurial spirit.
