the opportunity
Positioned at the main entrance to Seton Hall University, the Welcome Center acts as the face of the University. The new building creates a gesture of welcome to prospective students and families and serves current students and faculty as a beacon of academic excellence and institutional pride. In fulfillment of Seton Hall’s Campus Master Plan, the Welcome Center creates a dedicated, central location for the Office of Admissions in addition to flexible event space for the University community.
our approach
The design and materiality of the Welcome Center align with the campus’ architectural vernacular to connect the new building with the rich history of Seton Hall. On the exterior, varied red stone, a slate roof, and copper trim are married with more modern elements such as double-height aluminum curtain wall and metal panel cladding. Visitors to the Welcome Center enter through an impressive gallery space appointed with high-end finishes, comfortable seating, and displays of academic awards and national achievements that represent Seton Hall’s culture and accomplishments. Through the gallery is a flexible, divisible event space that can accommodate 200-750 people lecture-style or 500 seated at tables and is equipped with a catering kitchen to support events. All activities of the Office of Admissions are consolidated within the admissions suite to facilitate a streamlined working environment for employees and a smooth experience for prospective students and families.
